Singtel was named the “VSAT Service Provider of the Year” at the 18th Annual VSAT Global conference held in London on 15 September 2016. This was organisied by KNect 365 and in partnership with Comsys and GVF. This event recognised the achievements and innovations made from across the satellite industry over the last 12 months.
Since the liberalisation of Myanmar’s telecoms market, satellite communications is playing an increasingly important role to provide superior connectivity to the consumers and enterprises. The financial sector is the lifeblood of any country’s economy, and its smooth functioning, especially the need to ensure adequate communication infrastructure is central to the economy’s rapid and inclusive economic growth.
A reliable and robust VSAT network-based solution was provided to one of the 4 private banks in Myanmar in addressing their concern of frequent outages and terrestrial breaks between HQ and more than 100 branches island-wide. In addition, this solution has also enabled farmers and residents to carry out seamless banking transactions in the rural regions of Myanmar. The VSAT solution provided is not only effective and economical, it is scalable too.
“We are honoured to have received the prestigious award, VSAT Service Provider of the Year. This is the second time we have received this award,” said Lim Kian Soon, Head of Satellite. “This year, the panel of judges were impressed by how we went all our way out to provide a reliable satellite communication solution for our banking customer in Myanmar. This award certainly validates our satellite services capability in the satellite communication industry. Moving forward, we will continue to innovate and enable reliable satellite communications to connect communities globally.”
